Deserts cover one fifth of the earth’s surface, and are dry to support normal plant life. Desert regions receive very less rainfall and even the wettest deserts get less than ten inches of precipitation a year. They are also called as Death Valley, the Empty Quarter as the land is extremely dry. The plants and animals that live in deserts are adapted to the environment. Desert plants are able to collect and store water and are featured with reduction of water loss. Animals that live in deserts are well adapted to live by drinking less water, and most of the animals are nocturnal in nature.
